Connecting Your Apple Watch with Rogers: What You Need to Know
Looking to connect your Apple Watch with Rogers? Here’s a quick guide to help you understand the options available:
1. Smartwatch Plan Options
With Rogers, you have two ways to connect your Apple Watch to cellular service:
-
$0 Smartwatch Connection Plan: If you purchase your Apple Watch through Fraser Valley Wireless, you can activate it with Rogers’ cellular network. Our Preferred Plans include the $20 smart connection for 24 months, so you'll get data service without any additional costs. This allows you to connect your Apple Watch to your existing phone plan, so you can use it independently, even without your iPhone nearby.
-
$15 Standalone Plan: Already have your own Apple Watch? No problem! For a monthly Smart Connection of $15, you can connect it to the Rogers network as a standalone device, using the same phone number as your iPhone. This plan also allows your watch to function independently, while linked to your existing Rogers device.
2. Limitations: No Family Setup on Rogers
It’s important to note that Rogers does not currently support Family Setup for Apple Watches. Family Setup is a feature that allows you to set up an Apple Watch for a family member who doesn’t have their own iPhone, such as a child or elderly relative, so they can still make calls, send messages, and use other features independently.
Since Rogers doesn’t support this feature, each Apple Watch must be connected to the same iPhone and account to use cellular services. For details, you can visit Apple’s information page on Family Setup: Family Setup on Apple Watch.
