WHAT IS ROGERS SATELLITE?

Rogers Satellite connects your smartphone directly to low-Earth orbit satellites, extending your coverage far beyond traditional cell tower range. Rogers is the first and only Canadian wireless provider to offer satellite-to-mobile (STM) service.

WHO THIS AFFECTS

All Rogers wireless customers, including RPP participants. No special device or hardware required — your compatible smartphone connects automatically.

SATELLITE COVERAGE IN CANADA

Rogers Satellite covers approximately 5.4 million square kilometres — roughly half of Canada's landmass, including areas far beyond any cell tower footprint.

What you can do with Rogers Satellite in Canada:

Send and receive text messages in remote or off-grid areas with no cell signal
Access satellite-ready apps (WhatsApp, Google Maps, AccuWeather, X, CalTopo, and more)
Text-to-911 from anywhere in Canada, even outside cellular coverage
Works on Apple Watch with cellular when paired with a compatible iPhone

How it works: Your phone automatically switches to satellite when cellular signal is unavailable — no manual steps needed. Non-Rogers customers (e.g., dual-SIM with another carrier) must switch to the Rogers eSIM to use satellite features.

SATELLITE COVERAGE IN THE US (EFFECTIVE APRIL 16, 2026)

As of April 16, 2026, Rogers US roaming now includes Satellite-to-Mobile (STM) connectivity. This means you can stay connected in remote or off-grid areas of the United States where traditional cellular towers don't reach.

What you can do in US satellite areas:

Send and receive text messages
Use select satellite-ready apps including WhatsApp, Google Maps, AccuWeather, X, and CalTopo
Access text-to-911 in emergencies (text only — no photos or videos; must be outdoors with a clear view of the sky)

What is not supported in US satellite areas:

Voice calls
Standard mobile data

Eligibility for US satellite: Requires an active US Roam Like Home (RLH) plan or add-on. Pay-per-use only customers without RLH are not eligible.

Tips for best results: Be outdoors with a clear, unobstructed view of the sky. In cities and populated areas, standard cellular roaming applies as usual.

Rogers Satellite is included on select Rogers wireless plans. RPP customers on eligible plans can access satellite coverage as part of their plan — contact our team to confirm your plan's eligibility.
