WHAT'S CHANGING
Rogers is retiring its 2G mobile network. Starting May 28, 2026, customers still on a 2G-dependent device or SIM will begin receiving notifications by email and SMS. Once the retirement reaches your area, affected devices will lose service completely unless action is taken. Service interruptions are expected to complete by November 30, 2027.
WHO THIS AFFECTS
Rogers wireless customers whose device or SIM card is currently connected to the 2G network. If you're on a modern 4G/5G device with a current SIM and have not received any notification, you are likely not affected.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
If you receive a 2G retirement notice, you have 30 days to take action before a $75 administrative charge is applied to your account.
There are three possible scenarios — only one will apply to you:
Your device is 5G-capable but set to the wrong network — your settings may just need to be updated. Check your device's network settings and enable LTE/5G mode. A new SIM card may also be needed if your current SIM is an older 2G-type.
Your SIM card needs to be replaced — visit any Rogers retailer to swap your SIM at no charge. Once the new SIM is in, you can activate it through MyRogers.
Your device needs to be upgraded — if your phone does not support 4G/5G, you will need to upgrade to a compatible device to stay connected.
